Dove Cottage Grasmere

Grasmere is a typical traditional Lakeland village with stone houses next to Grasmere Lake, the village is best known for it's association with William Wordsworth who was actually born in Cockermouth but lived in Grasmere on return to the area. He lived at Dove Cottage (pictured above) between 1799 to 1808 and was buried in St Oswalds church yard. Later he lived in Rydal Mount was home from 1813-1850.

Grasmere has an annual Rush bearing ceremony, where there is a parade through the village carrying rushes (grass like plants) and flowers centred around the Church of St Oswald.
